I don't think it's made of steel. The metal legs broke after less than 6 months of 5-days-a-week-for-6-hours-per-day usage. The tabletop itself is OK but the legs, which are the most important part of the table, are thin and flimsy and don't last long. Don't waste your money. The legs broke at the right-angle corners of the frame. Once it broke, the legs bent until it started to fold and broke by itself. Good thing we already removed the laptop when we noticed it tilting. Really bad buy.
